George Franklin

Dedicated to the positive resolution of disputes, George is an associate in the litigation department, where he works with clients to address a wide spectrum of disputes. George routinely represents clients before all levels of court in Nova Scotia. He has a particular interest in complex appeals, and public law and constitutional litigation.

Called to the Bar in both Nova Scotia and Ontario, George gained valuable experience articling at the Court of Appeal for Ontario as a law clerk to the Honourable Associate Chief Justice Hoy and the Honourable Justices MacPherson, LaForme, and Benotto. He also worked as a summer student for a major Canadian not-for-profit environmental law organization.

George’s interest in the law began during his time at Carleton University, where he obtained a combined B.A. Honours in Human Rights and Law. George then attended law school at Dalhousie University, where he was a Dean’s List student and received several awards for academic excellence, including five class awards for highest standing.

When George isn’t advising clients or appearing in court, he can often be found outdoors. Before law school, he worked in outdoor tourism in Ontario, the Yukon, and the Alberta Rockies. These days, he enjoys exploring small towns and hiking with his partner and two delightful young children.
