Our Values
The threads that bind us.
We care about people. Since our inception, we have been a progressive firm that cares about its staff, clients and community. Our progressive values extend beyond the work we do, into other firm initiatives and activities.
The power of “we”.
At Pink Larkin, every client is “a client of the firm,” not just one lawyer. We embrace a team approach to delivering the most comprehensive service and efficient results possible.
Driven by ethics.
Honesty, respect, and civility are fundamental to our work.. These values guide everything we do, from how we treat each other and our clients to how we conduct ourselves within the legal and professional community.
Leading by example.
In our demeanour, conduct, work style and results, we lead by example as individuals and as a team in our Pink Larkin community and beyond.
Supporting our people, supporting our community.
Community Support
The well-being of others is essential to us. That’s why we focus our time and effort on supporting community events and progressive groups that contribute to the vibrancy and progress of our world. You will meet us out in the community, supporting causes and participating in events that make a difference.
Tackling systemic issues head-on.
Pro-Bono Work
To complement its progressive work and support for community initiatives, Pink Larkin also includes a full-time pro-bono practice focused on systemic litigation that presents law reform possibilities for people with low incomes—a first-in-Canada approach to actively providing access to justice.
Spearheaded by renowned social-justice litigator Vince Calderhead, Pink Larkin’s pro-bono initiative takes on cases that support those in financial need who must litigate matters related to social assistance and housing, often with a human rights or Charter of Rights dimension. This practice is an integral part of our firm, and we are proud of the work Vince and his team are doing to advance the rights of those in our community.

Building a diverse and inclusive community.
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) are core values that we deeply embrace. We are committed to fostering an environment where individuals from all backgrounds and identities feel valued, respected, and empowered. As a firm, we are working to support EDI within our firm and community.
In 2019, we established the Pink Larkin Diversity Scholarship and Internship at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University. It includes a biennial summer internship for a first-year law student, and a yearly renewable scholarship for a second-year law student from an equity-deserving group. We are pleased to say we are now in the sixth year of awarding the internship and scholarship.
When recruiting, Pink Larkin strongly encourages people from equity-deserving groups to apply – including Black, Indigenous, and other people of colour, women, and 2SLGBTQI+ people. We believe that these communities must be centered in the work we do.
Pink Larkin’s EDI Committee guides Pink Larkin’s ongoing efforts to pursue internal and external EDI initiatives. This includes a focus on ongoing education, identifying opportunities for community engagement, developing the firm as a safe and welcoming space for members of equity-deserving groups, and identifying and addressing barriers to inclusion.
