With a background in labour, Jason brings a practical, real-world focus to his labour and employment law practice. Working out of Pink Larkin’s Halifax office, Jason routinely works with public and private sector unions, management and executive level employees, as well as non-profits and First Nations on a variety of legal matters.
As part of his labour practice, Jason works with public and private-sector unions in all manner of disputes, with a particular focus on certifications, unfair labour practice complaints and grievance arbitration. Jason’s employment law practice consists primarily of helping management and executive-level employees negotiate optimal severance agreements. Through his work as a union organizer and workers’ rights advocate, Jason developed a strong understanding of the real-world practice of labour and employment law and is able to assist his clients in finding practical solutions to workplace disputes.
Jason advises no-profits on a variety of legal matters, including employment, governance, and civil disputes.
Prior to receiving his JD from Osgoode Hall Law School, Jason obtained his BA and MA from the University of New Brunswick Department of Political Science. His MA research focused on the minimum wage and low-wage and precarious work. That research led him to become a Research Associate with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.
Outside of work, Jason practices Brazilian jiu jitsu and is a member of the Halifax Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Society. This practice has helped Jason develop focus and precision in both his legal practice and personal life.
