Kimberly Turner

Thorough and fair-minded, Kim employs her in-depth knowledge and expertise to provide her clients in both Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island with sound and considered legal advice. Her practice focuses on   professional regulation, union side labour law, employment law and non profit law.

Kim is a sought-after speaker at labour law and professional regulation conferences; she also provides in-house training to clients on multiple topics.  Kim’s exceptional work has been recognized by her peers who have selected her for inclusion in the Best Lawyer in Canada® in the areas of Labour and Employment Law and Legal Malpractice Law for multiple years, and in 2014, named her the 2014 Best Labour Lawyer in Halifax.. Kim received her Queens Counsel (now King’s Counsel) designation in 2002.  Kim considers one of her most important roles is the mentoring of young lawyers as they join the practice of law.

Outside of her work at Pink Larkin, Kim’s professional volunteer life has  included  work with  various  Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society committees,  including  current membership on  the Professional Responsibility and Professional Practices Committee,  and the Ethics Advisory Committee and  past  involvement through the chairing  of the NSBS Continuing Professional Development (CPD) working group, membership in the  Bar Exam Screening Committee and on the NSBS  Futures Initiative Committee.

Though she is tireless in her work for her clients, Kim balances this with her commitment to public service and her family. Kim is Past President of the Universalist Unitarian Church in Halifax (and current Board member), past President of the Canadian Unitarian Council (CUC), member of various national committees of the CUC, a former member of Charities Directorate Advisory Committee to the Federal Minister of Revenue, former Chair of World Religions Canada and, in the early 1990s, as a member and vice-chair of the Halifax Taxi Commission.

Kim is an avid photographer (often from a kayak, in the early morning hours before work!). She shares her life with her husband, James Morris and adult children, Patrick and Katherine, who regularly remind her to slow down and enjoy the ride.
