Gordon is a distinguished leader in union-side labour law across Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador. Working in the area of labour and employment law since 1984, Gordon has cultivated extensive expertise representing clients before arbitrators and Labour Relations Boards. In his practice, Gordon acts as legal counsel for employees and trade unions before a variety of administrative tribunals in Nova Scotia and Labrador and Newfoundland. He has represented clients before the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunals in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador, the Labour Relations Boards of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador, the Construction Industry Panel of Nova Scotia, the Canada Industrial Relations Board and before arbitrators appointed either under a collective agreement or statute. He has also represented trade unions in the Supreme Court and the Appeal Court of Nova Scotia, the Supreme Court and Appeal Court of Newfoundland and Labrador and before the Supreme Court of Canada.

Gordon served as Chair or Co-Chair of the Labour Law Subsection of the Canadian Bar Association in Nova Scotia from 1987 to 1993. He was involved in drafting the Commercial Arbitration Act of Nova Scotia, has contributed articles for the Nova Scotia Law News and has participated in a variety of seminars on labour and employment law. From 1998 to 2007, Gordon taught the Preparation of a Witness section of the Bar Admission Course for the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society. He is a Charter Fellow of the Construction Lawyers Society of America.
