Congratulations to Harshini Arumugam, recipient of the 2025 Race and the Law Paper Prize

Harshini was awarded the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society Equity & Access Committee’s Race and the Law Paper Prize, which recognizes thoughtful and original legal writing that explores race in a broad legal context. Her winning paper, Putting Labour Law to Work, examines how the law can be used as a tool to advance racial and gender equity in the workplace.

A graduate of Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law—with a certificate in Aboriginal and Indigenous Law—Harshini will join our Halifax office as an Articled Clerk this September.

We are thrilled to see Harshini receive this well-deserved recognition. She is a passionate advocate for systemic change in the law, and her award-winning paper reflects both a deep understanding of the issues and a clear commitment to making a meaningful difference.
