Pink Larkin Lawyer Jaime Burnet Releases Second Novel, milktooth

We are proud to celebrate our colleague Jaime Burnet on the release of her second novel, milktooth.

Jaime is an associate lawyer at Pink Larkin, where her practice focuses on labour, employment, professional regulation, and human rights law. Jaime holds a master’s in Women and Gender Studies & Sexual Diversity Studies from the University of Toronto and a law degree from Dalhousie University. Her creative and academic pursuits reflect a deep commitment to social justice, equity, and advocacy.

milktooth follows the success of her debut novel, Crocuses Hatch from Snow. Jaime’s fiction is informed by a blend of lived experience, careful research, and a strong sense of place. She draws from the communities and landscapes she knows well and writes with clarity and purpose about themes such as identity, gentrification, systemic inequity, and belonging.

Her creative process is grounded in thoughtful engagement, and her work has been recognized for its sensitivity and honesty. From early writing in her youth to balancing authorship with legal practice and family life, Jaime’s journey reflects her remarkable discipline and creativity.

The novel is already attracting praise. Check out the recent CTV Morning Live Atlantic interview and review from The Miramichi Reader

The Halifax book launch took place on May 14th at Café Lara, 2347 Agricola Street, Halifax.
